Our BA Business Management with Sustainability (top-up) is a one-year programme that combines the study of business principles and practices with the knowledge and skills to address the social and environmental challenges of the 21st century.
It will teach you how to apply sustainability concepts and frameworks to various business functions and contexts, such as strategy, operations, and finance.
The degree also develops critical thinking, analytical and decision-making abilities, as well as ethical and responsible leadership skills.
Case studies and practical assessments will enhance your understanding of real-world sustainability issues and solutions and help prepare you for diverse and rewarding careers in the public, private or third sector, where you can contribute to the advancement of sustainability goals and values.
This is a one year online course aimed at students who want to obtain an Ordinary degree to enhance their career and supplement their existing skills and experience from within business; or for those who have an HND in a business or management related subject who wish to get a degree.
This course offers you excellent employability skills including professional presentation, team working, leadership, communication and problem solving.
You’ll enter directly into Year 3 of the degree. Upon successful completion of Year 3, you’ll be eligible for a Bachelors degree.
You’ll have the opportunity to focus in sustainability issues as they relate to business, and study a range of optional modules from business, finance, and more.
Sustainability and Responsible Management (Online)
In this module, you will examine the integration of social expectations environmental constraints within the responsible business paradigm ethical conduct. This module will educate you on the factors that interconnections among society, business, and the environment, as organisations and individuals can line with the UN SDGs. The corporations to navigate the ever more intricate and varied landscape sustainability management. This several frameworks that can be utilised to assess the extent to impact business activities and to inquire into the underlying effectiveness of such initiatives. You will learn major Western ethical utilitarianism and Kantianism, ethics and cultural diversity. You sustainability concepts such as definitions of important terms, (Elkington), strong sustainability (Giddings), natural resource-based view (Hart), natural capitalism (Hawken), Gaia theory (Lovelock), sustainability leadership and circular economy. Equipped with suitable resources and acquainted with local and global environmental and ethical concerns, you will be sustainable management policies through the analysis of business industry case studies. This module will equip you with a comprehensive introduction to responsible business and sustainability.
Foundation of ESG and Sustainable Finance (Online)
This module provides a comprehensive introduction to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors and their growing significance in business, finance, and investment decision-making. It begins with an overview of ESG principles and their implications for firms, stakeholders, and society. You will explore environmental factors such as climate change, resource management, and carbon emissions, assessing their impact on corporate strategies and stakeholder engagement. Social factors, including labor rights, diversity, and community relations, will be examined alongside governance elements like corporate ethics, board structures, and transparency.The module also introduces ESG scoring systems, highlighting key methodologies used to assess corporate sustainability performance. Sustainable finance will be explored in the context of addressing environmental and social challenges, with a focus on financial instruments such as green bonds, impact investing, and sustainability-linked loans. You will gain an understanding of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their relevance in ESG integration. In this course, you will also corporate social responsibility (CSR) and strategies for embedding ESG considerations into investment decision-making. By the end of this module, you will be equipped with the knowledge to analyse sustainable finance markets and instruments, ensuring responsible and ethical business practices.
