MODULE OVERVIEW

  • People and Organisational Development

    This module focuses on helping students develop knowledge and skills related to how the HR function operates, and its contribution to HR practice. It examines the role of HR departments in improving organisational effectiveness, including business decision making, as well as employee engagement, performance and wellbeing. The module examines the theoretical and practical applications of Human Resource Management (HRM), Organisational Behaviour (OB) and Organisational Development (OD) disciplines, and addresses issues concerned with managing individuals and teams within dynamic organisational contexts.

Assessment
  • Assessments are completed and submitted through the secure learning environment. The schedule for assessments is published in advance. There are no formal exams – assessment is by end of unit quizzes and end of module assignments.
Duration
  • The MSc HRM comprises seven “taught” modules and a Dissertation to a timescale that matches your requirements, but can be completed in 18 months.
Admissions Criteria
  • Ideally, you will hold a first degree at 2:2 or above, or an equivalent qualification for entry into this programme.
  • Alternatively, you may have an equivalent professional qualification, or qualifications and experience that are equivalent. In this case, you will be asked to produce a specified piece of work as part of the selection process.
  • If you don’t have a first degree, we value appropriate professional, administrative or managerial qualifications obtained from a recognised association or body.
  • People who do not possess a first degree may be enrolled in the first instance as an Associate student for the first trimester. Satisfactory performance from two modules may then result in registration on the MSc HRM programme.
